"Let's Spend the Day Together" (2009)
On May 23rd, 2008, Katie woke up in her New Zealand apartment to the sound of a bird singing outside her window. That same day, Phil went to a clinic in Germany to see about fixing a nagging cough. Mitch took his son fishing in Whitehorse. Drew went to a department store in Tokyo. It was, on the surface, a normal day for all of them, but one crucial difference was linking these people, along with others around the world: they were all helping to make the new album by Toronto-based electronic musician A.M.
For his fourth independently-released album, A.M. invited friends, family and fans to record audio of whatever they happened to be doing on May 23rd, 2008, and send him the results. These clips were woven into his songs in a variety of ways: the birdsong that awoke Katie from New Zealand floats over airy plucked guitars on the lead track, “Good Morning”; the frantic “Preskription” is a dance track composed almost entirely of the sounds of doors slamming, patients coughing, and phones ringing in the German clinic. Taken as a whole, however, the results are much more than musical gimmickry. Featuring A.M.’s signature mix of samples, live instruments and found sounds, Let’s Spend the Day Together, is an atmospheric, eclectic snapshot of a day in the life of humankind.
Fittingly, Let’s Spend the Day Together was released exactly one year after the project began: May 23rd, 2009.

"Today Is..." (2008)
In November 1987, A.M.'s mother shelled out $30 to rent a top-of-the-line RCA video camera, and interviewed her two sons, aged 8 and 10. She asked them about their likes and dislikes, their plans for the future, their everyday life.
Inspired by British director Michael Apted’s “Up” series, she continued to interview her sons every five years, eager to document the changes in their personalities and mentalities as they grew up.
In November 2007, 20 years after that first recording, A.M. revisited those tapes, and used the storyline of two decades of family life as the emotional basis for his new electronic album, weaving sound clips from the interviews together with the mixture of live instruments, synthesizers and samples that define A.M.'s sound.

"Underground" (2006)
To create this album, A.M. spent hours upon hours in Toronto’s subway system, recording the everyday ambient noise, fleeting conversations, and general hectic happenings that define life underground in a big city. Soundbites from these recordings were then thrown into the mix of samples and live instruments that have become the signature of A.M.’s music. The result is an album that reflects the personality of the subway system itself: at times hypnotic, at times frantic, at times meditative; equal parts human and surreal.

"This Is Me, Dancing" (2005)
A.M.'s debut album.
This project began in 2001, when A.M.'s previous rock band, Oberlin, acquired a computer for recording purposes. A.M. found that he could make clever little songs by cutting and pasting bits and pieces of other songs together, and then adding his own guitar or voice to the mix.
A.M. made a few songs in this way over the years, until, in 2005, he discovered that enough material had accumulated to merit a full album.
Features live instrument cameo appearances by Drew Heinmiller, Phil Carmichael, Marty Smyth, Mike Fallow, and Meghan Roberts.
SORRY, THIS ALBUM IS OUT OF PRINT. IF YOU REALLY, REALLY WANT ONE, EMAIL A.M. PERSONALLY AND PERHAPS HE CAN HOOK YOU UP.
